Given that this is the first industry downturn many of Oklahoma's Young Professionals have experienced, the board chose to focus on a theme: “Oklahoma's Young Professionals are Here to Stay.” Topics were focus on seeking opportunities in a market downturn and the many long term opportunities for YP in the industry, especially here in Oklahoma. Richard Spears opened the event with a presentation focused on the hot topic: challenges and opportunities in the oil and gas industry. Spears was followed by a deeply engaging conversation spurred by investor relations panel including Jeff Wilson as the moderator, Howard Thill, John Wolff, and R. Lewis Ropp as the panelists. The investor relations panel’s discussion was an interesting and relevant discussion during the low commodity price environment. A keynote address given by Doug Lawler, Chief Executive Offer of Chesapeake Energy, closed the speaker session. Lawler inspired the entire audience by giving a motivational speech about his thoughts on leaderships. After the speaker lineup, the attendees enjoyed an evening of networking with other young professionals from across Oklahoma at the Expo.
